Editorial Policy

By admin· Last updated

HerbsMedicine.net helps adults make informed decisions about herbal supplements, using human research, independent quality checks and clear safety information.

This policy explains how we stay independent, how we earn money, who writes our content and how we fix mistakes. For the step-by-step method behind every product review, see How We Review.

We write for readers worldwide. Rules, product availability and labels differ by country, so we say when information applies only to one market.

Our Independence

No brand can pay for, approve or change what we publish.

  • Brands cannot pay for a review, a better verdict, a higher ranking or a badge.
  • Brands do not see a review before it is published.
  • Products without affiliate programs are reviewed in the same way, and can be recommended.
  • We decide which products to review based on what readers search for and ask about, not on what pays.
  • If we ever publish paid or sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled “Sponsored” and kept separate from our reviews and rankings.

How We Make Money

We earn money through affiliate links. If you buy through one of our links, the store may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you.

  • Amazon: As an Amazon Associate, HerbsMedicine.net earns from qualifying purchases.
  • Other stores: We may also earn from links to [iHerb and other retailers].

Every page with affiliate links says so near the top and next to each buy button. Affiliate links are marked so search engines know they are paid links.

Commissions never change a check result, a verdict or which products we include. A product we earn nothing from can be Recommended, and a product we earn from can be Not recommended.

[If you later add paid tools: Paid features will offer convenience, such as saved research, alerts and exports. They will never offer better verdicts. Safety information, our method and corrections will always be free.]

Who Writes and Reviews Our Content

Every review names its author, and health content names a medical reviewer. Each name links to a profile with that person’s real qualifications and experience.

  • Authors research the product, run the 7 checks and write the review.
  • Medical reviewers check health and safety statements, doses, side effects and drug interactions before publishing. We mark a page “Medically reviewed” only after a qualified reviewer has done this.

[Add your team here: each person’s name, role, qualifications and a link to their author page.]

We never invent credentials or name an expert who has not reviewed the page.

Our Sources and Evidence Standards

We base health claims on human research, and we link to every important source so you can check it yourself.

  • We prefer systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials in people, then other human studies and government health agencies.
  • We read original studies where we can, using sources such as PubMed, Cochrane, the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and NCCIH. If we could only read a summary, we do not present it as the full study.
  • We check that each source supports the exact sentence it is cited for.
  • We look for studies that found no benefit or found harm, not only positive ones. We also note who funded a study.
  • We say clearly when evidence comes from animals, lab tests or traditional use, because these do not prove an effect in people.
  • If we cannot verify a claim, we leave it out or say it is unconfirmed.

Health and Safety

Our content is general information, not medical advice.

  • We do not diagnose conditions or give personal dosing plans.
  • We never suggest stopping or replacing prescribed treatment with a supplement.
  • We do not present supplements as cures, or claim benefits the evidence does not support.
  • We point out who should take extra care, including people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, children, people having surgery, people with long-term conditions and people taking medicines.
  • Safety warnings, interaction information and corrections are always free to read.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting a supplement, especially if you take medicines.

Free Products, Gifts and Conflicts of Interest

We do not accept free products, gifts, travel or payment from brands we review. [If you decide to accept samples, say so here, and say so in each review where a sample was used.]

Everyone who writes or reviews for us must tell us about any link to a supplement brand, such as a job, consulting work, shares or a family connection. A person with a conflict does not write or review content about that brand.

How We Use AI Tools

We may use AI tools to help with research and drafting, such as finding studies, summarising long papers and checking our writing for clarity. A person checks every fact, study and source against the original before publishing.

AI tools never decide a check result or a verdict, and we never publish AI-written health content without human review.

Corrections and Updates

When we get something wrong, we fix it and show that we fixed it.

  1. You report an error through our contact page.
  2. We check it against the original source within [7 days].
  3. If we were wrong, we correct the page and add a dated note to its Review history.
  4. If the correction changes a verdict, we say so near the top of the review.

We never quietly change a verdict. Small fixes, such as typos or broken links, may be made without a note.
