In a study of 80 pregnant women ranging from the 12th week of pregnancy until delivery, application of Trofolastin cream consisting of  Centella Asiatica extract, α-tocopherol, and collagen–elastin hydrolysates gave the following outcomes:

1. Striae Gavidarum  developed in a lower number of pregnant women in the treatment group compared with the placebo group.

2. The intensity of striae gravidarum was significantly lower in the treatment group than the placebo group.

3. The cream prevented the formation of striae gravidarum in 89% of the Women having a history of striae during puberty whereas in the placebo group all women formed striae gravidarum.

How to Use Centella Asiatica for Stretch Marks

You can use centella asiatica (Gotukola) to remove stretch marks making a paste (4).

1. Collect Gotu kola leaves and crush them into fine particles.

1. Mix aloe vera gel and virgin coconut oil or extra-virgin olive oil equally.

2. Massage the mixture on your affected area.

3. Let it stay overnight.

Topical Aloe Vera may cause some skin allergies such as redness, burning, stinging sensation, and itchiness.


3. Onion

Lechleri Resin Extract

In a clinical study, a cosmetic formulation having Punica granatum seed oil and Croton lechleri resin extract showed effectiveness in preventing and curing the striae distensae (stretch marks) (23).
